Estos desechos se ubican en el centro del oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico Norte, espec\u00edficamente localizado entre las coordenadas 135\u00b0 a 155\u00b0O y 35\u00b0 a 42\u00b0N.<\/p>\n<p>De los miles de millones de kilogramos de pl\u00e1stico que son producidos al a\u00f1o en el mundo, una infortunada parte es reciclada, por lo que gran parte termina tarde o temprano en el oc\u00e9ano. Esto es lo que propici\u00f3 la creaci\u00f3n del Gran Parche de Basura del Pac\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p>Las corrientes del Oc\u00e9ano Pacifico se han encargado de acumular el pl\u00e1stico desechado en las costas de Asia y Norte Am\u00e9rica. En el centro de corrientes oce\u00e1nicas circulares se crean cuerpos de agua estables; esas mismas corrientes pasan por las costas de Estados Unidos y Jap\u00f3n, donde recolectan la basura que arrojamos, y luego la acumulan en su centro, donde el agua es estable.<\/p>\n<p>Uno de los m\u00e1s grandes problemas reside en que el material no queda flotando en pedazos grandes o enteros, lo que har\u00eda m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil su limpieza, sino que por influencia de los rayos del sol, todo ese material de desintegra en pedazos casi microsc\u00f3picos que se suspenden en la columna de agua y son f\u00e1cil de ingerir para los <a href=\"https:\/\/onesea.org\/en\/blog\/oceanos-saludables\/la-fauna-del-fondo-marino-ya-esta-ingiriendo-microplasticos\/\">animales marinos que comen plancton<\/a>. Esta isla sigue creciendo y la realidad es que es demasiado grande como para que se pueda acometer alguna soluci\u00f3n.
