El pasado 31 de enero, concluy\u00f3 el periodo cuatrienal del Acuerdo Regional sobre el Acceso a la Informaci\u00f3n, la Participaci\u00f3n P\u00fablica y el Acceso a la Justicia en Asuntos Ambientales en Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe, mejor conocido como el \u201cAcuerdo de Escaz\u00fa\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

As\u00ed, la Asamblea Legislativa convoc\u00f3 a votaci\u00f3n para la extensi\u00f3n del plazo este 1 de febrero, resultando en una mayor\u00eda de votos a favor del cierre del proceso, dando como archivado el proyecto de ley.<\/span><\/p>\n

Una herramienta para la informaci\u00f3n, participaci\u00f3n y el acceso a justicia en temas ambientales<\/b><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ text_font=”Arial||||||||” text_text_color=”#000000″ text_font_size=”16px” text_line_height=”1.4em” text_orientation=”justified” custom_margin=”-4px||-2px|10px|false|false” custom_padding=”||0px|||” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

El Acuerdo de Escaz\u00fa<\/span><\/a> nace del inter\u00e9s de crear un instrumento internacional para validar el <\/span>principio 10<\/span><\/a> de la convenci\u00f3n de la conferencia <\/span>R\u00edo +20<\/span><\/a>, un hito hist\u00f3rico en donde los Estados parte de la ONU se reunieron para reflexionar sobre el trayecto del desarrollo sostenible despu\u00e9s de 20 a\u00f1os de trabajo en esa l\u00ednea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

25 pa\u00edses de Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe, dicen concretar el instrumento durante el periodo del 2014 al 2018, en donde Costa Rica y Chile lideraban su construcci\u00f3n. Para Marzo del 2018, se firma el Acuerdo de Escaz\u00fa en Costa Rica, en la ciudad del mismo nombre, con la promesa de asegurar que toda persona tenga acceso a la informaci\u00f3n, participe en la toma de decisiones y acceda a la justicia en asuntos ambientales, en una de las regiones m\u00e1s violenta y peligrosa para las personas defensoras.<\/span><\/p>\n

El proceso de ratificaci\u00f3n del instrumento no dio resultados positivos para Costa Rica. Dicho Acuerdo fue v\u00edctima de la polarizaci\u00f3n y desinformaci\u00f3n, por parte de las elites empresariales, dando como resultado bloques de oposici\u00f3n que influenciaron a la mayor\u00eda de fracciones pol\u00edticas con discursos alejados de los derechos socioambientales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Costa Rica no podr\u00e1 ser parte de los beneficios que brinda el acuerdo tanto en materia econ\u00f3mica, social y de posicionamiento internacional.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
