Canad\u00e1 acoge el <\/span>5\u00ba Congreso Internacional de \u00c1reas Marinas Protegidas o AMP<\/span><\/a>, que se celebrar\u00e1 del 3 al 9 de febrero de 2023 en Vancouver, con el objetivo de definir una hoja de ruta para alcanzar los objetivos de conservaci\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos y proteger al menos el 30% de la superficie terrestre y oce\u00e1nica del planeta de aqu\u00ed a 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lograr que las <\/span>\u00c1reas Marinas Protegidas<\/span><\/a> compartan el mismo enfoque de construir redes de trabajo sostenibles y resilientes, depende de un compromiso general con la protecci\u00f3n, el liderazgo, la participaci\u00f3n de las partes interesadas, instituciones, gobiernos y organizaciones, pueblos ind\u00edgenas, comunidades costeras y sociedad civil, de una manera inclusiva y equitativa para avanzar en la protecci\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IMPAC5 es una plataforma para compartir conocimientos, \u00e9xitos y mejores pr\u00e1cticas en un entorno abierto y respetuoso para el intercambio de ideas entre una diversidad de puntos de vista, conocimientos, opiniones, antecedentes y experiencias vividas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La cumbre sobre protecci\u00f3n marina se celebra inmediatamente despu\u00e9s de la reciente conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre biodiversidad (COP15) celebrada en Montreal, en la que los l\u00edderes mundiales se comprometieron a proteger el 30% de las tierras y aguas del planeta para 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desde OneSea damos el apoyo a la conferencia IMPAC5, ya que representa una oportunidad inmediata para empezar a trazar el camino hacia el <\/span>compromiso 30×30<\/span><\/a>, sobre todo para empezar a llegar a un acuerdo internacional en torno a las definiciones, objetivos y protecciones m\u00ednimas asociadas a las \u00e1reas marinas protegidas (AMP).<\/span><\/p>\n

El congreso adem\u00e1s da un revolucionario paso a ceder el espacio de anfitriones a comunidades ind\u00edgenas de Canad\u00e1. Esto representa no solo diversidad de voces en el debate, sino que da protagonismo a las personas que se encuentran al frente en la defensa de los bienes comunes naturales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Es una oportunidad de reunir a pueblos y culturas ind\u00edgenas de todo el mundo para adoptar un enfoque de colaboraci\u00f3n y aprender del liderazgo ind\u00edgena en la conservaci\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos.<\/span><\/p>\n

Por esto, parte del desarrollo del congreso incluye el lanzamiento de la colaboraci\u00f3n entre Canad\u00e1, las provincias y territorios y los pueblos ind\u00edgenas en la creaci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n de las AMP dirigidas por ind\u00edgenas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La Reserva del <\/span>Parque Nacional de Gwaii Haanas<\/span><\/a>, Reserva de la Zona Nacional de Conservaci\u00f3n Marina y Sitio del Patrimonio Haida, denominada las Gal\u00e1pagos canadienses, en la costa norte de Columbia Brit\u00e1nica es el ejemplo emblem\u00e1tico del gobierno federal de zona de conservaci\u00f3n marina dirigida por ind\u00edgenas y gestionada en cooperaci\u00f3n por Parques de Canad\u00e1 y la Naci\u00f3n Haida.<\/span><\/p>\n

En OneSea reconocemos la importancia de la participaci\u00f3n de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas en la conservaci\u00f3n marina, por esto es necesario resaltar el papel del <\/span>pueblo Brunca<\/b> en Costa Rica y su legado cultural en la protecci\u00f3n de los bienes comunes dentro y fuera del Parque Nacional Marino Ballena.
